I think yes, they certainly can, and do. It takes a lot of trust, and a lot of strength. I would imagine it’s the same as being with someone who is in a touring band, or military leave - gone for a period of time, you get to see them for a bit, then they’re gone again…thankfully there are things like skype that help make it not so hard, you can see eachother and talk to eachother…and the time you do spend together means that much more. I also think it builds a better foundation because you fall more in love with the person, and not just in love with being intimate with them…that gets confusing for a lot of people - you take out the sex, and there’s nothing. I think in LDRs you see more of who the person really is…although not being able to see someone every day that you want see every day gets super hard sometimes.
But yeah…I think they can work. If two people feel strongly enough for eachother, distance ain’t no thang. :)
